Structural Business Statistics

The Structural Business Statistics survey describes the economic development for Swedish enterprises by industry and region. The results are used to calculate enterprises' contribution to GDP (gross domestic product).

Structural business statistics includes all non-financial enterprises. The survey is conducted annually and is based on tax declarations and annual accounts.

In cooperation with the Swedish Tax Agency, we have pre-printed some of the information on the form. The information has been collected from the tax declaration of your enterprise. We kindly ask you to specify the information on the form.

Survey timetable

In the beginning of September all selected enterprises will receive a user ID and password through the postal service.

Please reply no later than October 4, 2024.

Frequently asked questions

Which accounting period should we use?

If your accounting follows the calendar year, the information should pertain to the fiscal year 2023. If you have a broken fiscal year, the information should pertain to the fiscal year that ended in 2023 (2022/2023).

Where do the pre-printed details come from?

We pre-print some details on the form that have been retrieved from your tax declaration. If you provided information to Business Economics last year, some of these details are also pre-printed. If they are incorrect, please adjust the details to the correct ones.

Are estimated values acceptable?

We are aware that the form contains many rows to choose from and that it can sometimes be difficult to allocate revenues and costs. In these cases, the information can be estimated.

What should we do if our company is closed down?

Try to fill in the form based on the information you have access to, and write a comment about when the company was closed down. You are also welcome to contact us by phone or email.

How do we know that the information has been received?

When you submit the information via the web form, you will receive a confirmation that the information has been submitted. If you receive this confirmation, you can be sure that the information has been received.

Can we get an extension to submit the information?

If you need an extension to submit the information, contact us by phone or email. Don’t forget to provide your organization number.

Can we fill in a paper form instead?

We no longer send out paper forms, contact us if you need one.

Can I get paid for providing information about my company?

No. Providing information is a statutory obligation for companies and organizations, therefore no compensation is paid. Neither SCB nor any other authority has been granted funds to compensate companies for submitting information to official statistics.

Legal Information

The obligation to provide information for this survey is mandatory according to the Official Statistics Act (2001:99). The statistics are also regulated according to the Official Statistics Ordinance (2001:100) and Statistics Sweden's regulations (SCB-FS 2024:11). The information you submit is protected according to Chapter 24 Section 8 of the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (2009:400). When the information is published, no single enterprise will be able to be identified. Consultation has taken place with The Board of Swedish Industry and Commerce for Better Regulation (NNR).
