Journal of Official Statistics (JOS)

The Journal of Official Statistics (JOS) is a quarterly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Statistics Sweden (in cooperation with Statistics Norway and Statistics Finland). JOS publishes research articles on survey methodology and other aspects of production of official statistics.

The intended readers are researchers and practitioners in academia, government, business or research organisations with an interest in survey methodology and production of official statistics.

There is no charge for authors to submit a manuscript, have it reviewed or published in the journal.

Call for Papers

The JOS Editorial Board invites submissions to the Special Issue on Artificial Intelligence in Official Statistics – Exploration and Exploitation

 The special issue of the Journal of Official Statistics aims to present the current state of exploring and exploiting Artificial Intelligence (AI) in official statistics production. We welcome submissions relevant, though not limited, to the key themes in this area: efficiency improvement, the use of new data sources, use of large general-purpose (foundation) models and generative AI, AI in design and data collection and dissemination, quality assurance, interdisciplinary collaboration, hybrid approaches where AI is successfully incorporated in human-centric intelligent systems, and trustworthy, fair and explainable AI.
