  • Economic upturn in November

    The economic situation for households improved during 2024 with falling interest rates and increasing real incomes. In November, both household consumption and production in the business sector rose and the Business Cycle Clock turned into the recovery phase.   • Modest growth in the Swedish economy

    The Swedish economy expanded slightly in the third quarter of 2024. However, the quarter ended with a decline in September and GDP continued downwards in October. No turnaround of the household consumption is yet to be seen in the statistics.   • The business cycle is still weak

    The economic situation was still weak in September. The GDP Indicator fell both during September and for the third quarter as a whole. Unemployment continued upwards but a glimpse of light was shown in the private sector production which grew in September.   • Slight improvement in the Swedish economy

    The economic statistics shows flashes of light in August 2024. The monthly GDP indicator increased from a weaker July, building production grew and there are signs of labour market stabilizing.   • The Swedish economy remains subdued

    Sweden’s GDP has been at roughly the same level for two and a half years. GDP decreased slightly in the second quarter of 2024 following an upturn in the previous quarter. The domestic demand was still weak while net exports contributed positively to GDP-growth.
