  • Trend break – reduced sales of sweets during 2023

    In 2023, total sales value of food and beverages amounted to SEK 384 billion, which is an increase of approximately SEK 28 billion, or 7.9 percent compared with 2022. Adjusted for price increases, total food sales decreased by 3.8 percent. Sweets is one of the products that the average Swede bought less of in 2023. Compared with 2022, Swedes’ sweets purchases decreased with SEK 78 per person per year.

  • Increased sales of sweets and soft drinks in 2022

    In 2022, total sales of food and beverages in current prices, amounted to SEK 356 billion, which is an increase of approximately SEK 22 billion, or 6.6 percent compared with 2021. In fixed prices the sales of sweets increased with SEK 107 per capita compared with 2021.

  • Sales of food and beverages increased in 2021

    In 2021, sales of food and beverages amounted to SEK 334 billion, up by 2.9 percent, corresponding to SEK 9 billion, from 2020. This increase is due to a 2.5 percent increase in sales volume and a 0.4 percent increase in prices on food and beverages.

  • Sales of food and beverages increased in 2020

    In 2020, sales of food and beverages amounted to SEK 325 billion, up by 6.6 percent, corresponding to SEK 20 billion, from 2019. This increase is due to a 4.6 percent increase in sales volume and a 1.9 percent increase in prices on food and beverages.

  • Sales of food and beverages increased in 2019

    In 2019, sales of food and beverages totalled SEK 305 billion. This is an increase of 3.0 percent, corresponding to SEK 9 billion, compared with 2018. The increase stemmed from a 0.2 percent increase in sales volume and a 2.8 percent increase in prices on food and beverages.
