  • Most of the Swedish population is often happy

    68 percent of Sweden's population aged 16 or older feel happy most of the time or always. Women and men are happy to an equal extent while persons aged 65 and over have a higher share who mostly or always feel happy than younger persons.

  • More common for women to refrain from going out

    18 percent of Sweden's population aged 16 or older has refrained from going out in the evening at some point during the last 12 months out of fear of being assaulted or threatened. This is one of the results in a report based on the Living Conditions Survey published by Statistics Sweden today.

  • Fewer smokers, more snuff users

    The proportion of the population aged 16 and over who smoke every day has more than halved since the late 1980s. At the same time, the proportion who use snuff daily has increased, especially among women. This is one of several results from today's publication of Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (SILC) 2024.

  • Older women are diligent practitioners of culture

    Women are more likely than men to engage in some kind of artistic hobby in their free time. And unlike men, this practice is significantly more common after the age of 65.
