  • Minor changes in water use

    The total water use in Sweden in 2020 was more or less unchanged compared to the situation in 2015. However, within some industries there are significant changes. The use of water within agriculture has increased significantly while the manufacturing industry decreased the use of seawater.

  • Levels of water use by industry remain unchanged

    Water use in industry amounted to 2 097 million m3 in 2020. This means that water use by industry remains largely unchanged compared with the latest measurement, in 2015.

  • Water use decreases in Sweden

    The total water use in Sweden in 2015 was 5 percent lower compared to the situation in 2010. The decline in water use was most significant within agriculture and the manufacturing industry.

  • Slight fall in water use in the industry sector

    The total use of water in industry in 2015 was 2 222 million m3. This is a slight decrease compared to the latest measurement, conducted in 2010.

  • Almost 9 out of 10 people are connected to public water and wastewater networks

    About 87 percent of the total resident population in Sweden is connected to public water and wastewater networks according to new figures from Statistics Sweden. For the first time, statistics regarding water and wastewater services have been released as official statistics.
