  • Digitalisation increased the innovation intensity among enterprises in 2022

    80 percent of the enterprises were classified as more digitalised in 2022. The higher degree of digitalisation an enterprise had, the greater the possibility that they conducted innovation activities. In the lowest degree of digitalisation, 27 percent were innovation active, in comparison to 79 percent in the highest degree of digitalisation.

  • Large enterprises in the industry sector the most innovative in 2020-2022

    Half of all enterprises engaged in some type of innovation activity during 2020-2022 and 48 percent were innovative. The proportion of innovation active as well as innovative enterprises was higher in the service sector than in the industry sector, but the large industrial enterprises were more innovation active and innovative than the corresponding size class in the service sector.

  • Augmented innovation

    Enterprises and government institutions that use AI are more innovation active than those that do not use AI, as shows in a new microdata analysis based on data from multiple surveys conducted by Statistics Sweden.

  • Innovation in the welfare sector

    Business enterprises and public workplaces in health services were more innovative than their counterparts in education. However, public providers of health services were more innovation active and introduced more innovations than private performers during the years 2019-2020.
