Business inventories increased in the second quarter of 2022

Swedish business inventories increased by SEK 3.5 billion in constant prices in the second quarter. This development corresponds to an increase of 0.6 percent in volume.

Total inventories in industry increased by SEK 1.2 billion in the second quarter, which corresponds to an increase of 0.5 percent in volume. Inventories in trade increased by SEK 2.3 billion in the second quarter, which corresponds to an increase of 0.8 percent in volume.

Industrial inventories increased

Inventories of products in progress, finished goods and goods for resale decreased by SEK 0.5 billion and inventories of raw materials and consumables increased by SEK 1.7 billion. This means that total inventories in industry increased by SEK 1.2 billion in the second quarter.

Trade inventories increased

Inventories in trade increased by SEK 2.3 billion in the second quarter. The largest increase was noted in wholesale trade, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, in which inventories increased by SEK 2.7 billion. Inventories in retail trade, excluding motor vehicles increased by SEK 0.4 billion, while wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by SEK 0.8 billion.

Revisions

The figures for the second quarter 2022 are preliminary. Since the previous publication, the development in total industrial inventories in the first quarter 2022 has been revised upwards by SEK 0.9 billion to an increase of SEK 5.1 billion. Total trade inventories in the first quarter 2022 have been revised upwards by SEK 0.5 billion to an increase of SEK 13.7 billion.
