The negative trend for the fund wealth slowed down
Statistical news from Statistics Sweden and Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority 2022-11-24 8.00
Total fund wealth in Swedish registered funds amounted to SEK 5 572 billion at the end of the third quarter of 2022. This is a decrease by SEK 52 billion, correspondent to 1 percent, compared to the previous quarter. The negative trend on the stock market slowed down during the quarter, which can also be seen in the fund wealth.
Third quarter in brief:
- Total net investments amounted to SEK 25.3 billion.
- The households had negative net investments, SEK – 1.5 billion.
- Households’ directly-owned fund wealth amounted to SEK 986.8 billion during the third quarter. It is SEK 16.4 billion less compared to the previous quarter and SEK 125 billion less compared to the third quarter 2021.
- In the households sector, the largest decrease was in Equity funds, 2.4% of the fund wealth.
- The households had positive net investments in Fund of funds and in Other funds.
- Mixed funds were the only fund type with negative net investments. SEK, – 2.3 billion.
- Bond and money market funds had the highest total net investments, SEK 13.6 billion.
- Foreign owners net investments increased from SEK -3.2 billion during the second quarter to SEK 21.2 billion during the third quarter.
Swedish krona exchange rate
The average price for one Euro in the third quarter was SEK 10.62 compared to SEK 10.47 in the previous quarter. The average price for one US dollar was SEK 10.55 compared to SEK 9.84 in the previous quarter. The effect of these rates is that the funds' investments in Euro and in US dollars increased in value in terms of Swedish Kronor.
Number of active funds in the statistics
During the second quarter, 8 new funds were started and 2 previously active funds were closed or merged. A total of 821 active Swedish funds were listed, which is a net increase of 6 compared to previous quarters.

Definitions and explanations
The statistics include investment funds registered in Sweden. Both mutual funds and special funds are included in the statistics. The other funds category includes funds that could not be classified under any other category, such as Hedge Funds.
The Swedish financial companies sector includes, for example, mutual fund insurance and premium pension savings and holdings in managed depots that may have households as the final owner.
