Investment funds 2nd quarter, 2024

The fund assets increase by 1.5 percent

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden and Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority 2024-08-23 8.00

At the end of the second quarter of 2024, the total fund assets in Swedish funds amounted to SEK 7 693 billion. This represents an increase of SEK 117 billion, equivalent to 1.5%, compared to the previous quarter.

(In the data base for the statistics for the first quarter of 2024, information about end customers from a large number of funds has changed. Ownership of funds via custody ends up without knowledge of the end customer in financial companies. For the fund companies that sell their funds via banks, they are reported as end customers instead of other sectors. The problem with measurement is described in more detail in the quality declaration. For the publication of the second quarter, Statistics Sweden has chosen to impute information on the position value for households for a large number of funds with data from the fourth quarter of 2023. For equity funds, the value for households has also been adjusted with the average increase for the fund type for the first and second quarter. The total fund assets, the breakdown by fund type and the funds' investment assets are not affected. For transactions in investment fund shares, Statistics Sweden has chosen not to report these for households as well as items for IPS and financial companies.

In connection with the production of the statistics for the second quarter of 2024, the market value for foreign holdings and transactions per fund type has been revised from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2024).
