Market value of insurance companies’ capital investments rose

In the second quarter of 2020, the market value of insurance companies’ investment assets rose to SEK 5 269 billion. This can be compared with SEK 4 983 billion at the end of the previous quarter, and SEK 5 354 billion at the end of 2019. Net investments in this industry amounted to SEK 5 billion in the quarter.
Strong development in shares and participations, purchases profiled to investment funds
The market value of insurance companies’ holdings in shares and participations increased by SEK 310 billion in the second quarter from SEK 2 990 billion to SEK 3 301 billion. Insurance companies’ total net investments amounted to SEK 60 billion in shares and participations, of which investment funds accounted for SEK 42 billion.
For the value of managed investments, the recovery from the downturn in the first quarter of 2020 was reflected in both the non-life and the life insurance sector in the second quarter. Specific data concerning the second quarter is available below.
