The quarter in brief

• In the first quarter of 2024, insurance and occupational pension companies' holdings in shares and participations increased from SEK 4,995 billion to SEK 5,448 billion, equivalent to an increase of 9.1 percent.
• The net transactions for shares and participations amounted to SEK 29,4 billion during the current quarter.

Life insurance and occupational pension companies

• Increase in foreign shares: Foreign shares increased from SEK 787 billion to SEK 889,2 billion, representing an increase of SEK 102,2 billion or 13% from the previous quarter.
• Increase in investment funds: Investment funds increased from SEK 2,653 billion to SEK 2,925 billion, representing an increase of SEK 272 billion or 10.3% from the previous quarter.
• Increase in bonds issued by municipalities and regions: Bonds issued by municipalities and regions increased from SEK 67,8 billion to SEK 76,7 billion, representing an increase of SEK 8,9 billion or 13.1% from the previous quarter.

Non-life insurance companies

• Decrease in loans: Loans decreased from SEK 9,9 billion to SEK 7,6 billion, an increase of SEK 2,3 billion or 23.6% from the previous quarter.
• Increase in bonds issued by municipalities and regions: Bonds issued by municipalities and regions increased from SEK 6,8 billion to SEK 7,9 billion, an increase of SEK 1,1 billion or 15.5% from the previous quarter.
• Increase in money market instruments: Money market instruments increased from SEK 3,3 billion to SEK 4,6 billion, an increase of SEK 1.3 billion or 39.9% from the previous quarter.
