During the second quarter of 2024, the market value of insurance and occupational pension companies' investment assets increased to SEK 7,601 billion, up from SEK 7,516 billion at the end of the previous quarter. Compared to the second quarter of 2023, the market value has increased from SEK 6,951 billion.
The quarter in brief
- In the second quarter of 2024, insurance and occupational pension companies' holdings in shares and participations increased from SEK 5,448 billion to SEK 5,553 billion, equivalent to an increase of 1.9 percent.
- The net transactions for shares and participations amounted to SEK 33,4 billion during the current quarter.
Life insurance and occupational pension companies
- Increase in foreign shares: Foreign shares increased from SEK 889,2 billion to SEK 899,1 billion, representing an increase of SEK 10 billion or 1.1% from the previous quarter.
- Increase in investment funds: Investment funds increased from SEK 2,925 billion to SEK 3,009 billion, representing an increase of SEK 84 billion or 2.9% from the previous quarter.
- Increase in bonds: Bonds as a total increased from SEK 1,219 billion to SEK 1,262 billion, representing an increase of SEK 42,5 billion or 3.5% from the previous quarter.
Non-life insurance companies
- Increase in loans: Loans increased from SEK 7,6 billion to SEK 7,8 billion, an increase of SEK 0,2 billion or 23.6% from the previous quarter.
- Decrease in bonds: Bonds as a total decreased from SEK 231,8 billion to SEK 229,9 billion, a decrease of SEK 1,9 billion or 0.8% from the previous quarter.
- Decrease in money market instruments: Money market instruments decreased from SEK 4,6 billion to SEK 3 billion, a decrease of SEK 1,6 billion or 35.4% from the previous quarter.
