Borrowing in debt securities increased

At the end of November, total liabilities in debt securities amounted to SEK 9 289 billion, up by SEK 60 billion from October. This increase is mainly due to increased borrowing in instruments denominated in SEK during the month, both for bonds and money market instruments.

Developments in November 2022 in brief

Increased liabilities in bonds and decreased in money market instruments

  • At the end of November, total liabilities in debt securities amounted to SEK 9 289 billion, of which bonds accounted for 80 percent and money market instruments accounted for 20 percent.
  • During the month, liabilities increased for bonds by SEK 119 billion and decreased for money market instruments by SEK 59 billion.
  • The annual growth rate for total debt securities liabilities was 6.4 percent, decreased by 0.9 percentage points from October.

Increased borrowing for non-financial corporations

  • At the end of November, non-financial corporations total liabilities amounted to SEK 1 705 billion, up by SEK 40 billion from October.
  • Both bonds and money market instruments increased respectively by SEK 35 billion and SEK 5 billion.
  • Behind the increase for non-financial corporations are mainly instruments denominated in euros at a value of SEK 44 billion.

Maturity structure

  • Debt securities valued at SEK 2 338 billion will reach maturity within six months. More than half are denominated in foreign currency, mainly US dollars and euros.
  • Unsecured debt securities from monetary financial institutions accounts for the majority of the maturity value within six months, SEK 1 076 billion, in which the majority is issued in foreign currency, mainly US dollars. For other sectors, the maturity value is mainly in Swedish kronor.
