Households in multi-dwelling buildings increased the most in 2021

At the end of 2021, one- or two-dwelling buildings with ownership rights was the most common type of housing in Sweden, followed by rented dwellings in multi-dwelling buildings. Compared with 2020, the number of households in one- or two-dwelling buildings with ownership rights increased marginally. The largest increase in 2021 was for households in multi-dwelling buildings. In absolute numbers, rented dwellings increased more than owner-occupied dwellings, but owner-occupied dwellings in multi-dwelling buildings had a relatively larger increase.
