Increased income in 2020 despite the corona pandemic

The income for individuals and the economic standard for households continued to increase in 2020, albeit at a relatively slow rate compared to previous years in the 2010s, according to statistics on households’ incomes and taxes.
Final income data for 2020, the first corona year, have now been published. The total earned income for the population aged 20 and older increased. The median value rose by 1.3 percent. This was a slightly higher increase than in 2019, when the total earned income rose by 0.8 percent. Since 2015, the increase has been 7.4 percent.
The economic standard, which has increased every year since the mid-1990s, continued to increase in 2020. The median value rose by 0.5 percent, slightly less than in 2019. The increases in recent years have been lower than in the early 2010s.

Total earned income: Total earned income refers to the sum of income from employment and income from business activities.
Economic standard: For a comparison of disposable income between different types of households, disposable income of the household is placed in relation to the number of adults and children in the household.
Disposable income is the sum of all taxable and non-taxable income less taxes and other negative transfers (such as repaid study loans) of all household members.
