Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2013-12-18 9.30
Approximately 26 000 rental dwellings were unlet as of 1 September 2013, a decrease of 4 percent compared to when the last survey was carried out in September 2011.
Many of the larger municipalities have a few vacant apartments while smaller municipalities show a different pattern. About 10 000 or 73 percent of the dwellings vacant for rent can be found in municipalities with fewer than 75 000 inhabitants.
The number of vacant dwellings for rent has decreased significantly since the end of the 1990s. The peak was in 1998 when about 62 000 dwellings were vacant.
