Labour Force Surveys (LFS) 2024:1-Theme: Older people´s participation in the labour market 2001–2023
This report highlights the participation of older people in the labour market. The aim is to describe who stays in the labour market into older ages and what they do after the age of 65. The statistics presented come from the Statistics Sweden's Labour Force Surveys (LFS) and the people included belong to the age group 55–89 years.
The report includes:
- A historical overview of the development of the labour market of older people over the past two decades.
- What it looks like today among the elderly.
What does employed mean?
In the Labour Force Survey, a person is classified as employed if he or she has worked at least one hour a week in a given week or been temporarily absent from employment in the corresponding week. An employed person is a person who has an employment, is self-employed or is an unpaid helper in a business owned by a spouse or other member of the same family.
