Inflation rate according to CPIF was 1.3 percent in August

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 1.3 percent in August 2019, down from 1.5 percent in July. The CPIF decreased by 0.4 percent from July to August. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF decreased by 0.2 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.4 percent in August 2019.
Price decreases on package holidays (-20.4 percent) contributed 0.4 percentage points downwards to the change from July to August. Lower prices on international flights (-21.1 percent) contributed 0.2 percentage points. Lower prices on vegetables (-4.2 percent) contributed an additional 0.1 percentage point.
These decreases were mainly offset by price increases on clothing (4.5 percent), which contributed 0.2 percentage points upwards.
The CPI for August 2019 was 334.39 (1980=100).
The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 1.3 percent, down from 1.5 percent in July. The HICP decreased by 0.5 percent from July to August. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP decreased by 0.3 percent.
