Inflation rate according to CPIF was 1.5 percent in July

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 1.5 percent in July 2019, down from 1.7 percent in June. The CPIF rose by 0.4 percent from June to July. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF rose by 0.5 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.7 percent in July 2019.

Price increases on package holidays (25.6 percent) contributed 0.4 percentage points to the change from June to July. Higher prices on food (2.0 percent) contributed 0.3 percentage points, of which price increases on meat (2.3 percent) and on vegetables (4.9 percent) contributed 0.1 percentage point each. Higher prices on electricity (5.3 percent) and international flights (19.3 percent) contributed an additional 0.2 percentage points each.

These increases were offset by a price decrease on clothing (-6.5 percent) that contributed 0.3 percentage points downward. Lower prices on furnishing and household goods (-0.9 percent) and on accommodation services (-7.1 percent) affected the CPI downward by 0.1 percentage point each.

The refilling of the general dental care allowance each year in July affected the dental service index by -20.1 percent and contributed 0.2 percentage points to the monthly change. The CPI for July 2019 was 335.80 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 1.5 percent, down from 1.6 percent in June. The HICP increased by 0.5 percent from June to July. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP increased by 0.6 percent.
