Publicly owned enterprises 2014:

Negative result for government owned enterprises

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2015-12-03 9.30

The result for government owned enterprises decreased in 2014 for the second consecutive year and amounted to SEK -6.4 million, a decrease of SEK 23.9 billion in 2014. In 2013 the reported result was SEK 17.5 billion, a decrease of SEK 20 billion since 2012. The decrease is largely due to a decrease in the financial income.

The balance sheet total amounted to SEK 1 766 billion, representing an increase of approximately SEK 236 billion compared to 2013.

The government owned enterprises have decreased their return on equity by 7.1 percentage points, which was 0.1 percent in 2014. The reason for the decrease is mainly the sharply reduced result after financial items and that the adjusted equity increased at the same time. The equity-assets ratio has decreased by 0.7 percentage points to 26.4 percent in 2014.

Reduced results even for municipally owned enterprises

The municipality-owned companies also reduced their reported result to SEK 12 billion in 2014. This represents a decrease of SEK 2.7 billion compared to 2013. Total assets of the municipality-owned enterprises amounted to SEK 1 163 billion, an increase of SEK 48 billion compared to 2013.

The return on equity decreased from 7.5 percent to 6.9 percent in 2014. The equity-assets ratio increased marginally by 0.1 percent, from 21.5 percent to 21.6 percent.

Remained positive results in county council owned enterprises

The result of county council owned enterprises remained positive and amounted to SEK 96 million in 2014. Positive appropriations of 0.6 billion is the reason why the result was positive.

The balance sheet total amounted to SEK 69.1 billion, which represents an increase of approximately SEK 8.4 billion compared with 2013.

The county council-owned companies reported a return on equity of 4 percent for the year 2014. This is a decline compared with the year before, and the negative result after financial items is the cause. Even the equity ratio decreased by 1.5 percentage points to 17.1 percent in 2014.
