The result for the state-owned enterprises increased in 2023 compared to 2022. In 2022, the result was strongly negatively affected by the temporary effects from the valuation and value hedging of electricity and fuel contracts.

Positive development of earnings for state-owned enterprises

In 2023, earnings for state-owned enterprises increased by SEK 45.8 billion compared with 2022.

The total balance sheet decreased by SEK 84 billion compared to the year 2022 and was SEK 2.621 billion. On the liability side, long-term liabilities decreased the most. On the asset side, long-term receivables decreased the most.

The return on equity increased and was 17.3 percent in the year 2023. The equity ratio also increased and was 21.9 percent in 2023.

Earnings for municipal-owned enterprises decreased

In 2023, earnings for the municipal-owned enterprises decreased by SEK 4.1 billion compared to year 2022.

The balance sheet total for the municipal-owned enterprises was SEK 1.942 billion in 2022, which was an increase of SEK 56 billion compared to 2022. On the liability side, long-term liabilities increased the most. On the asset side, receivables increased the most.

The return on equity decreased in 2023 by 1.6 percentage points and was 4.0 percent. The equity ratio decreased by 0.3 percentage points and was 23.5 percent in 2023.

Earnings for region-owned enterprises decreased

The reported result for the region-owned enterprises decreased by SEK 0.2 billion compared to year 2022.

The balance sheet total increased and amounted to SEK 145 billion in year 2023. On the asset side, fixed assets increased the most. On the liability side, liabilities increased the most.

The return on equity decreased in 2023 and was -4.5 percent. The equity ratio decreased and was 10.3 percent in 2023.

The equity-assets ratio refers to adjusted equity capital divided by total assets.
