Sales of food and beverages increased in 2021

In 2021, sales of food and beverages amounted to SEK 334 billion, up by 2.9 percent, corresponding to SEK 9 billion, from 2020. This increase is due to a 2.5 percent increase in sales volume and a 0.4 percent increase in prices on food and beverages.

Sales of alcoholic beverages increased by 3.9 percent compared with 2020. This increase came from a 3.4 percent in sales volume and a 0.5 percent increase in prices on non-alcoholic beverages.

Sales of non-alcoholic beverages increased by 7.9 percent compared with 2020. This increase came from a 5.4 percent in sales volume and a 2.4 percent increase in prices on non-alcoholic beverages.

Per capita sales of sweets amounted to SEK 2 312 in 2021. This corresponds to weekly per capita sales of SEK 44, up by SEK 2 per week compared with 2020. Sales of sweets were considerably higher than per capita sales of fruit, which was SEK 31 per week.
