In August 2021, exports of goods increased by 11 percent in value, while they decreased by 2 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. At the same time, imports of goods rose by 19 percent in value and by 8 percent in volume.

Compared with the previous month, Swedish exports of goods decreased by 9 percent in value and by 10 percent in volume. At the same time, imports of goods increased by 5 percent in value and by 3 percent in volume. The number of weekdays in August was the same as in July 2021.

Exports of machinery and transport equipment decreased by 5 percent in value and by 8 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. Within this product area, exports of passenger cars decreased by 38 percent in value and by 40 percent in volume. Compared with the previous month, exports of passenger cars decreased by 36 percent in value and by 37 percent in volume.

Exports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 64 percent in value and by 4 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. The large difference between the value and volume trends is due to higher prices on petroleum products in August 2021. Compared with the previous month, exports of mineral fuels and electric current decreased by 9 percent in value and by 10 percent in volume.

Exports of minerals increased by 36 percent in value, while they remained unchanged in volume compared with the same period a year ago. This increase is the result of higher prices on minerals. Compared with the previous month, exports of minerals decreased by 11 in value and by 13 percent in volume.

Imports of machinery and transport equipment increased by 10 percent in value and by 8 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. Within this product area, imports of passenger cars decreased by 10 percent in value and by 12 percent in volume. Compared with the previous month, imports of passenger cars decreased by 20 percent in value and by 21 percent in volume.

Imports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 75 percent in value and by 8 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. The large difference between the value and volume trends is due to higher prices on crude petroleum oils in August 2021. Compared with the previous month, imports of mineral fuels and electric current increased by 11 percent in value and by 12 percent in volume.

Imports of minerals increased by 44 percent in value and by 10 percent in volume compared with the same period a year ago. This increase is the result of higher prices on minerals. Compared with the previous month, imports of minerals increased by 16 percent in value and by 11 percent in volume.
