Net trade balance at SEK 6.9 billion in February

In February 2023, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 169.1 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 162.2 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 6.9 billion.

Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 6.9 billion in February 2023, according to preliminary calculations. In February 2022, there was a net trade surplus of SEK 1.0 billion.

The value of exports in February 2023 was SEK 169.1 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 162.2 billion. The corresponding values for February 2022 were SEK 151.0 billion for exports and SEK 150.0 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 12 percent in value, and imports have increased by 8 percent in value compared with February 2022. The number of weekdays in February 2023 was the same as in February 2022.

Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 22.2 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 15.3 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 2.9 billion in February, compared with a surplus of SEK 2.2 billion in January. The corresponding figure for December was a surplus of SEK 0.7 billion.

Net trade (December 2022 – February 2023) showed a surplus of SEK 12.4 billion

In this period, the value of exports of goods increased by 17 percent and the value of imports of goods increased by 13 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 512.5 billion and imports were valued at SEK 500.1 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 12.4 billion for December 2022 - February 2023. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a deficit of SEK 4.8 billion.
