Labour Force Surveys (LFS)

The statistics describe labour market developments for the Swedish population aged 15–74. The LFS shows the number and percentage of employed and unemployed persons respectively, per month, quarter and year. It is the only source of continuous data on total unemployment and represents the official unemployment rate.
2025-02-17: Information about LFS in the Statistical database, SSD
From the publication of the LFS January 2025, seasonally adjusted and -smoothed series will be published in SSD. A number of tables have been given a new structure. Also new is the change rate for the non-seasonally adjusted series.
2025-02-17: Information about correction in the Statistical database, SSD of age groups 20–64, 16–65 and 16–66 for native/foreign born
In SSD, the age groups 20–64, 16–65 and 16–66 have been corrected in 5 published tables, for the years 2021–2024. The tables concern native/foreign born persons. The tables have been corrected in connection with the publication of the LFS in January, on 17/2–2025.

The number of employed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 5 241 000 in 2024, which is a decrease of 29 000 compared to 2023. The employment rate decreased by 0.4 percentage point to 69.0 percent. The number of permanent employees increased by 50 000 while the number of temporary employees decreased by 62 000. The number of unemployed increased by 41 000 and amounted to 480 000. This corresponds to an unemployment rate of 8.4 percent, an increase by 0.7 percentage points compared to 2023.
