    Social protection expenditures as a share of GDP remained more or less unchanged between 2022 and 2023, with shares at 27.5 and 27.4 percent respectively. Social protection expenditures in current prices increased, but less compared to the increase of GDP.

    Social protection expenditures as a share of GDP decreased from 27.8 percent in 2021 to 26.7 percent in 2022. This was the smallest share of GDP since 1993. Social protection expenditures in current prices increased, but less compared to the increase of GDP.

    Social protection expenditures as a share of GDP increased from 27.7 percent in 2019 to 29.6 percent in 2020. Social protection expenditures in current prices increased, while the GDP decreased.
