Surveys by statistics areas

  • Name statistics

We have stopped producing name statistics from 2024.

  • Population statistics

Population statistics show population size and population changes, such as the number of births, deaths, and immigration and emigration and are available by county, municipality, sex, age, civil status, country of birth and country of citizenship. The statistics are based on data on registered persons that the Swedish Tax Agency supplies to Statistics Sweden.

  • Demographic Analysis (DEMOG)

In the statistics, demographic events such as births, deaths and migration for various groups in society are analysed. In addition, couple formation and separation is studied. Analyses also provide a basis for assumptions that underpin the annual population projections.

    Population projections

A population forecast for Sweden is carried out every year, broken down by age, sex and country of birth group. A more comprehensive analysis is carried out every third year of future population trends, where a main alternative and alternative projections are produced. Follow-ups and revisions are carried out for the years in between.

  • Population and housing census 1960–1990 (TPR)

Statistics show different aspects of society at the time of the census. There are statistics available here from FoB 75 to FoB 90 on the population's employment, household composition and accommodation. There are also descriptions of all variables from FoB 60 to FoB 90 with regard to definitions and value sets.

    Register-based Population and Housing Census

A population and housing census means that data is collected about households, accommodation and housing in a country at any given time.
