Processing of personal data of MONA users

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies as law in Sweden and in other EU and EEA countries. It is designed to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, particularly their right to the protection and control of their personal data.

All our processing of your personal data is carried out in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

What personal data does Statistics Sweden process about MONA users?

Statistics Sweden (SCB) processes data about users and their use of MONA.

To create a user account, arrange login details and provide ongoing support, SCB registers the name and contact details of all MONA users. SCB also registers the software and language (Swedish or English) requested by the user for processing data in MONA.

SCB also processes personal data registered during the use of MONA: time and IP address at login, uploaded and downloaded files, software use, resource usage and assignment of access rights.

SCB is the data controller

SCB, with corporate registration number 202100–0837 and address Klostergatan 23, 701 89 Örebro, is the data controller for the processing of personal data of MONA users. SCB is the data processor for the data that the user processes and analyses in MONA.

Purpose and legal basis for processing the personal data of MONA users

One of the purposes and a legal basis for the processing of personal data is that it is necessary for SCB, according to the agreement with the respective customer, to make the customer's data available on a secure platform where the data is protected against access by unauthorised persons and to provide support to users.

The data is also used to verify that the use of MONA is in accordance with both the terms of use that each user has agreed to prior to use and any other agreements, which includes checking that login has only taken place in countries within the EU or EEA, or third countries approved by the European Commission for transmission, and that an approved browser has been used.

The processing of data on the use of software is also necessary to enable SCB to verify compliance with agreements with software suppliers.

In addition, data is recorded in security logs, which are used when unauthorised access to data in MONA is suspected.
