Orders in industry decreased in November

Total orders in industry decreased by 0.9 percent in November 2021 compared with October, in seasonally adjusted figures. Compared with November 2020, total orders in industry increased by 3.0 percent in calendar-adjusted figures.
Despite a decrease in total orders, a majority of the industrial subsectors recorded a positive development on a monthly basis. The largest increase was in the electronics industry, up 13.9 percent. The largest decrease was in the industry for motor vehicles, down 10,3 percent. Total orders in industry decreased on both the domestic and the export market compared with October. The domestic market decreased by 2.4 percent and the export market decreased by 0.2 percent, in seasonally adjusted figures.
Total orders in industry increased on an annual basis
The COVID-19 outbreak started to significantly impact orders in industry in March 2020, which should be taken into account when comparing annual development statistics.
On an annual basis, total orders in industry increased by 3.0 percent compared with November 2020, in calendar-adjusted figures. Orders received from customers in Sweden increased by 7.2 percent and orders received from customers abroad increased by 0.5 percent.
Total orders in industry in October have been revised
The figures for November are preliminary. Since the previous publication, the seasonally adjusted monthly development in October compared with September has been revised upwards by 1.0 percentage points to 5.9 percent. The calendar-adjusted development in October compared with October of the previous year has been revised upwards by 1.0 percentage points to 7.8 percent.

Definitions and explanations
Revisions
When the orders index and the turnover index for a new month are published, the indices for previous months are also revised. The material is normally revised for between two and four months retroactively, depending on which month of the quarter is the reference month. The whole previous quarter is revised when publishing the first and second months of a quarter. Calendar adjusted figures, seasonally adjusted figures and trend figures are revised from January 2000 onwards.
