Increasing invesments in equity funds – decreasing in mixed funds

At the end of the second quarter of 2023, the total fund assets in Swedish funds amounted to SEK 6 691 billion. This represents an increase of SEK 405 billion, equivalent to 6.4%, compared to the previous quarter. The improment are reflected in positive net transactions and favorable market developments.
Second quarter in brief:
- The total net investments amounted to SEK 47.9 billion.
- Households had net investments totaling SEK 4.2 billion.
- Household directly-owned fund assets amounted to SEK 1 160 billion during the first quarter. This is an increase of SEK 58 billion compared to the previous quarter and increase of SEK 157 billion than the second quarter of 2022.
- For the household sector, the largest increase was in the Equity Funds category, accounting for 9.2% of the fund assets.
- Households had positive net investments in Equity Funds, Bond and Money Market Funds, and Fund-of-Funds.
- Mixed Funds were the only fund category with negative net investments overall, amounting to -SEK 5.8 billion.
- Equity Funds had the highest total net investments, totaling SEK 36 billion.
- Net investments by foreign owners amounted to SEK 3.9 billion during the quarter.
The exchange rate of the Swedish krona
The average exchange rate for one Euro during the quarter was SEK 11.46 compared to SEK 11.19 in the previous quarter. The average exchange rate for one US dollar was SEK 10.52 compared to SEK 10.43 in the previous quarter.
Number of active funds in the statistics
During the second quarter, 19 new funds were added and 7 previously active funds were terminated or absorbed. In total, 847 active Swedish funds were listed, which is 12 more than the previous quarter.

Definitions and explanations
The statistics include investment funds registered in Sweden. Both mutual funds and special funds are included in the statistics. The other funds category includes funds that could not be classified under any other category, such as Hedge Funds.
The Swedish financial companies sector includes, for example, mutual fund insurance and premium pension savings and holdings in managed depots that may have households as the final owner.
