Nearly eleven percent increase in the assets of life insurance and occupational pension companies

The assets of life insurance and occupational pension companies were valued at SEK 6,399 billion at the end of 2023, an increase of 10.6 percent from 2022.

This followed a previous decrease in assets from 2021 to 2022 by 9.8%. Additionally, subtotal for life assurance business increased from 2022 to 2023 after declining from 2021 to 2022. In 2023, subtotal for life assurance business amounted to SEK 228 billion, compared to SEK 57 billion in 2022 and SEK 586 billion in 2021.

Assets of non-life insurance companies

Investments of non-life insurance companies increased from 2022 to 2023 after a decline from 2021 to 2022, similar to life insurance and occupational pension companies. This applies to both nation-wide companies and major local companies. The nation-wide companies group increased from SEK 456 billion in 2022 to SEK 486 billion in 2023, corresponding to an increase of 6.5%. Major local companies grew from SEK 137 billion to SEK 154 billion over the same period, corresponding to an increase of 11.9%.
