The quarter in brief

• In the fourth quarter of 2023, insurance and occupational pension companies' holdings in shares and participations increased from SEK 4,784 billion to SEK 4,996 billion, equivalent to an increase of 4.4 percent.
• The net transactions for shares and participations amounted to SEK 41.3 billion during the current quarter.

Life insurance and occupational pension companies

• Increase in money market instruments: Money market instruments increased from SEK 63.8 billion to SEK 101.7 billion, representing an increase of SEK 37.9 billion or 59.4% from the previous quarter.
• Decrease in land and buildings: Land and buildings decreased from SEK 84.6 billion to SEK 59.4 billion, representing a decrease of SEK 25.2 billion or 29.8% from the previous quarter.
• Decrease in other financial investments: Other financial investments decreased from SEK 38.3 billion to SEK 15.6 billion, representing a decrease of SEK 22.7 billion or 59.2% from the previous quarter.

Non-life insurance companies

• Increase in derivatives: Derivatives increased from SEK 336 million to SEK 505 million, an increase of SEK 169 million or 50% from the previous quarter.
• Increase in accrued interest: Accrued interest increased from SEK 1.4 billion to SEK 1.8 billion, an increase of SEK 0.4 billion or 26% from the previous quarter.
• Decrease in other financial investments: Other financial investments decreased from SEK 9.1 billion to SEK 1.4 billion, a decrease of SEK 7.7 billion or 84% from the previous quarter.
