Net trade balance at SEK 7.9 billion in April

In April 2024, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 183.1 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 175.2 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 7.9 billion.
Foreign trade in goods resulted in a net trade surplus of SEK 7.9 billion in April 2024, according to preliminary calculations. In April 2023, there was a net trade deficit of SEK 2.1 billion.
The value of exports in April 2024 was SEK 183.1 billion, while imports were valued at SEK 175.2 billion. The corresponding values for April 2023 were SEK 163.1 billion for exports and SEK 165.2 billion for imports. Exports of goods have thus increased by 12 percent in value and imports increased by 6 percent compared with April 2023. The number of weekdays in April 2024 were three more compared with April 2023.
Trade in goods with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of SEK 25.7 billion, while EU trade resulted in a deficit of SEK 17.8 billion.

Seasonally adjusted, net trade showed a surplus of SEK 4.6 billion in April, compared with a surplus of SEK 4.2 billion in March. The corresponding figure for February was a surplus of SEK 4.5 billion.
Net trade (January – April 2024) showed a surplus of SEK 36.6 billion
During the last four months, the value of exports of goods decreased by 1 percent and the value of imports of goods decreased by 2 percent compared with the corresponding period a year ago. Exports were valued at SEK 700,0 billion and imports were valued at SEK 663,4 billion, resulting in a net trade surplus of SEK 36,6 billion for January - April 2024. The corresponding net trade balance for these months one year earlier was a surplus of SEK 25.5 billion.
