The statistics cover Sweden's foreign trade in goods broken down by country and type of goods classification. The combined nomenclature (CN) provides the most detailed level, with 9 400 goods groups. SITC and SPIN refer to more general goods classification.

From 2025 onwards, a new threshold applies for companies being obliged to report data to Intrastat (intra-EU trade). The threshold is raised for dispatches from SEK 4.5 million to SEK 12.0 million but remains unchanged for arrival (SEK 15.0 million). This leads to more companies falling below the dispatches threshold and fewer companies being obliged to report information on intra-EU dispatches to Statistics Sweden. A higher proportion of the data therefore needs to be estimated and the uncertainty of the detailed data increases. The export data published for 2025 will be based on less reported information than previous years and the tables showing export data adjusted for non-response will rely more on estimates than data from previous years.

In January 2025, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 180.9 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 165.8 billion. As a result, the net trade balance was SEK 15.1 billion.
